Barak Banga's 3-day session begins

Silchar: With much fanfare, the 29th biennial conference of Barak Upatyaka Bango Sahitya O Samskriti Sammelon began here on Friday. Ram Kumar Mukhopaddhay, former head of Sahitya Academy's eastern chapter formally inaugurated the three day session on Friday evening. Earlier in the day, new central committee of the premier organisation of this Bengali dominated valley was formed with noted educationist Radhika Ranjan Chakraborty as president. Gautam Prasad Dutta would continue as the general secretary for second term.

The day began early morning with a cultural procession. Enthusiastic participation of various linguistic and ethnic communities, dressed in their traditional attire, made the rally a feast for eyes.

The three day session was designed with seminars, cultural programmes, plays, traditional folk songs, book release. Apart from Mukhopaddhay, noted academician Bani Prasanna Misra, noted scientist as well as author Biman Nath would attend the session as speaker. There would be a solo performance by famed singer from Kolkata Bibhabendu Bhattacharjee.
