GUWAHATI: The Barpeta district administration has been trying to create a work culture among the state government employees.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Tez Pratap Ghosal directed the government employees to file their reports every day. The Deputy Commissioner took the decision in a meeting of the District Development Committee (DDC).

In the meeting, DC Ghosal directed the district officers of all the departments to pass orders to their sub-ordinate employees to file daily reports every working day.

The DC also asked the district officers to engage the employees in other works who pass time without doing any work. Revealing these, the district Public Relations department added that the DC insisted creation of a work culture among the government employees.

It could be noted that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been insisting creation of a work culture among the government employees. It is expected that the step taken by the Barpeta district authorities may be followed by other districts of the state in the coming days.

Earlier in September 2021, the Assam government has empowered the deputy commissioners to transfer all third and fourth-grade officials and employees within the same district and department.

The Personnel Department issued a notification in this regard. The notification is, however, not applicable in the districts under the Sixth Schedule.

With this notification, the deputy commissioners can transfer third and fourth-grade officials of all categories, including junior engineers, medical staff such as nurses, laboratory assistants and others.

The notification further said that the deputy commissioners should consult the district line departments while transferring employees. The move is to rationalize the workforce within districts and expedite scheme implementation.
