Barpeta police arrested 4 hardcore dacoits

BARPETA: Four dacoits arrested by the police of Barpeta Road police station were on Friday sent to police remand for three days.

The operation was led by Mantu Das and Chandan Goswami. The four dacoits are Mafijuddin (30), son of Abdul Mazid, Jamtol, Balarvitha, Taher Ali (31), son of Tarap Ali, Chengulia, Abdul Kasem (33), Ghilajhari, Howly, Ahsan Habib ( 22), son of Tafijuddin, Shinltapu, under Gossaigaon police station in Kokrajhar district. They were arrested from the house of Mafijuddin while they were planning a robbery. There were others also but they managed to flee.

The police seized two vehicles bearing registration numbers AS-19 P- 0551 and AS15 R- 6377. On the basis of their confession, the police again seized an Apache bike (AS14 G- 8621), one Yamaha bike (AS 22- 2136) and a Bullet motorcycle without number plate. Police also seized cash Rs 18,890 and mobile phones from them. Interrogation is on.
