KOKRAJHAR: The Boro Diaspora Forum (BDF), a non-political organization working in different parts of the world, on Tuesday congratulated Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the new Chief Minister of Assam and his colleagues. The forum hoped that the new government headed by Sarma would give importance on key issues of the Bodos and implementation of all clauses of the BTR accord in letter and spirit.

The president of the BDF, Pinuel Basumatary in a statement urged the new State Government for strengthening of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) administration in accordance with the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, protection of land rights of the Bodo and other indigenous tribal people of the State by strict implementation of provisions of tribal belts and block guideline i.e. as laid down under Chapter X of the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation Act,1886, settlement of thousands of Boros and other tribals residing in the erstwhile reserve forests in the State, implementation of the third Bodo Peace Accord signed on January 27, 2020 in letter and spirit and practical rehabilitation to former members of all factions of National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) who laid down their arms and signed the third Bodo Peace Accord to bring peace and development in the State.

Basumatary also said that meaningful recognition of the aspirations of the Boro people as regards to their culture and identity was the need of the hour. The BDF further expressed their trust and hope that under the leadership of the new Chief Minister, peace, stability and all-round development of all communities living in the State would scale newer heights.
