TEZPUR: The eighth death anniversary of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika was observed at Tezpur by various organizations and educational institutions, including Tezpur Xahitya Xabha, Ban Theatre, Trimurti Uddyan, Jyoti Bharati and Joymoti Sangha with day-long programmes. An all-religion prayer was also held on the occasion.
The programme at Bhupen Hazarika Kalabhumi started with the lighting of the earthen lamp by veteran actor Arun Nath and it was followed by floral tributes at the statue of the Sudhakantha by Bhupen Saikia, president of Tezpur Xahitya Xabha, social worker Dr. Lakhi Goswami, Parag Kakati, ADC of Sonitpur, and international photographer Nalini Barua. Several vocal artistes presented Bhupendra Sangeet. Speaking on the occasion, retired Professor and social worker Purneswar Nath said that Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika had touched the heart of everyone who loved music and humanity. Various other eminent guests spoke on the occasion, which was followed by Bhupendra Sangeet and art and dance competitions.
