Bid to create awareness among new voters held in Bholanath College & Dhubri Girls' College

DHUBRI: The Election Office conducted an awareness drive on Summary Revision 2020 in Bholanath College and Dhubri Girls' College on Friday.
The youngsters and upcoming voters were briefed about the various processes related to registration as new voters in the electoral roll and the importance of exercising ones right to vote. Several speakers, including Principal of Bholanath College, Dr. Dhruba Chakrabortty spoke on how to enroll the new voters in the electoral roll.
"Those who attained the age of 18 as codified by the Election Office of India, should enroll their names in the electoral roll. This is very important for survival of the democracy, and you should be proud to be part of the world's largest democracy by exercising right to cast vote as duty-bound citizens of the country," Chakrabortty appealed. Dhubri Election Officer Partha Pratim Barman also addressed meeting and informed about the procedures to enroll the names of new voters. Later, talking to The Sentinel, Barman informed that similar campaigns would be conducted at various other colleges throughout the district in the upcoming days.
"The response has been positive so far and with this campaign we can reach out to maximum new voters and ensure that their names are enrolled in the electoral roll," Barman added.
