Bid to make Dibrugarh District a Plastic-free City

Dibrugarh: Taking the fight against the use of single-use plastic forward, the Dibrugarh District Drinking Water and Sanitation Committee generated awareness among people in various market areas of the town on Saturday, and also distributed cloth bags among the public as an alternative to plastic bags.

The awareness procession was organized by the Committee with the assistance of HDFC Bank, with the intention to turn the town plastic-free. The procession witnessed the participation of MLA Prashanta Phukan, District Development Commissioner Sanjay Dutta and other dignitaries.

The procession started from the Women’s Market situated right across the DC office and covered areas like New Market, Vegetable Market and Fruit Market.
