LAKHIMPUR: The biennial session of Jonai regional unit United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) and 19th annual session of All Bodo Women Welfare Federation (ABWWF) concluded successfully on Wednesday.

The session of the both organization was organized at Silikhaguri Public Playground in Jonai. It began with unfurling of the organizational flags by Jonai regional unit UBPO president Lohit Gouda Basumatary and ABWWF president Baileng Goyari. Jonai regional unit UBPO vice-president Ursajit Basumatary and Jonai regional unit ABWWF vice-president Khirada Daimari conducted the swahid tarpan event. Teacher of UNB Bodo High School, Kaalicharan Narzary inaugurated the upper section cultural competition and Bahadur Daimari Memorial Volleyball competition.

The open session of the event was held with Lohit Gouda Basumatary and Baileng Goyari in the chair. It was inaugurated by Bhumidhar Bodo, the central committee member of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha. In his lecture, Bhumidhar Bodo threw light into the backdrop of constituting the UBPO as a Bodo community organization.

"The UBPO was floated in 2014 at Simen Chapori of Dhemaji district in order to secure the judicious rights of the Bodo community people living 22 districts outside the BTAD. The organization has paved the way for the development of the Bodo people in the 22 districts of the State. The constitution of Bodo Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council by the State Government is the outcome of UBPO's endeavor," Bhumidhar Bodo added.

UBPO adviser Sukreswar Goyari took part in the event as chief guest and Dhemaji district unit president Ratiram Basumatary was present as appointed speaker. Dhemaji district unit ABWWF president Phuleswari Daimari also delivered speech in the programme as appointed speaker in the presence of a host of leaders from various Bodo community organizations. On the other hand, Dhemaji district unit UBPO vice-president Jonaram Brahma was present as special guest. In the same event, the new executive committees of Jonai regional unit UBPO and ABWWF were constituted.
