Bike-Borne Robbers Strike in Guwahati, Stealing Lakhs from Woman

GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident on a busy Thursday in Guwahati, a woman named Gama Singh, hailing from Amsing in Jorabat, fell victim to a daring robbery carried out by two miscreants on a motorcycle along the Satgaon highway. The criminals made away with a substantial sum of money that she had just withdrawn from the State Bank of India's Narengi branch, leaving her traumatized and injured.

The ordeal unfolded as Gama Singh was en route to her residence after completing her banking transaction. In a brazen act, the miscreants snatched her bag containing the significant cash amount and quickly fled the scene, leaving her shocked and physically harmed following a scuffle that ensued.

Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, bystanders rushed Gama Singh to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention. Her injuries, though not life-threatening, served as a stark reminder of the risks faced by innocent victims in such incidents.

Subsequently, Gama Singh took a courageous step by filing a First Information Report (FIR) at the Satgaon police station, launching an official investigation into the robbery. The police have responded swiftly, initiating a comprehensive manhunt aimed at tracking down the culprits and recovering the stolen money.

This distressing incident follows a similar case on September 6, when another woman fell prey to bike-borne bag snatchers in Guwahati's Beltola area. In this incident, security cameras captured the criminals in action, grabbing the woman's purse before making a hasty getaway. Despite her valiant attempts to resist, the woman was overpowered, resulting in the loss of not only cash but also crucial documents and her mobile phone.

These incidents underscore the pressing need for enhanced security measures and public awareness regarding such criminal activities. The community, along with law enforcement agencies, must work together to ensure the safety of citizens in public spaces, particularly against the audacious actions of bike-borne criminals who pose a significant threat to the peace and security of Guwahati residents.
