Guwahati: Assamese-Moran bilingual movie, 'Baghjan' by Jaicheng Zxai Dohutia has been selected for the Marche du Film which is the business counterpart of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France.

Established in 1959, this is one of the largest film markets in the world and it is held annually in conjunction with the Cannes Film Festival or Festival de Cannes.

Dohutia's film has been selected in the 'Goes to Cannes' section; a total number of five Indian movies were given an opportunity to pitch for selection.

''I am really honoured to share the news that our film Baghjan has been selected for the ''Goes to Cannes'' section from India,'' he said while sharing the update over the same.

He further said also expressed his happiness that Cannes has started the country of honour section and India is going to be the first.

He also added that if the state government can sponsor the travel expenses, he and his team could have represented the film and his state.

Coming to film, it has been shot at real locations and the victims of the oil-leakage tragedy have performed in it. The film revolved around the plight of commoner villagers, who were affected by the blowout at Baghjan in the Tinsukia district.
