Birth Anniversary of Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala

Dibrugarh: The Dibrugarh District Committee of Bharatiya Gananatya Sangha, along with the support of the local artists and cultural organisations, will conduct a day-long ceremony to mark the birth anniversary of Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala on January 17. The President of the District Committee of the said organisation, Arifa Begum, has informed that the programme would begin with a ‘Sur Bahini’ starting its journey from Natya Mandir at 9 am by singing songs and reciting poems of Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala.

The Sur Bahini is scheduled to be inaugurated by State Executive President, Sarat Chandra Neog, and will cover quite a distance, culminating at Jyoti Udyan at Tamulbari Tea Estate, the birthplace of Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala. In the second half, starting an hour past noon, cultural programme befitting the occasion will be held near the Bogibeel Bridge at one of the schools located there.
