LAKHIMPUR: Lakhimpur district administration and Cultural Affairs of Assam observed the Bishnu Rabha Divas with two-day long programmes on Monday and Tuesday as per instruction issued by the Government of Assam.
As part of the programmes organized, Bishnu Rabha Sangeet Playing Mobile Van played Bishnu Rabha Sangeet across four Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) under Lakhimpur district, viz- Bihpuria, Naoboicha, Lakhimpur and Dhakuakhana LACs; especially in the schools and public places from Monday till Tuesday. Dissemination of his ideology, message of his creation through sound system (Mike), speech events on his life and works and cultural events in the schools were conducted continued the district on both days.
On the occasion, a commemorative programme was held at North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) on Tuesday evening by the Cultural Affairs of Assam and Lakhimpur district administration. The live telecast of the official programme organized by the Government of Assam was conducted in the programme. The commemorative programme was inaugurated by Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka. Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, ADC Minakshi Perme, DIPRO Mandira Chayengiya, Cultural Officer Vidyadhar Deuri Principal Dr Biman Chandra Chetia were among those who attended the programme.
On the other hand, Bishnu Rabha Divas was observed at Lakhimpur Commerce College to mark the 54th death anniversary of the Kalaguru. Principal Dr Lohit Hazarika began the programme by paying floral tribute with the lighting of the traditional lamp before the portrait of legendary cultural and literary icon along with the faculty members, non-teaching staff and students of the college. The objective of the meeting was explained by Professor Mridusmita Hazarika of Assamese Department under the chairmanship of the Principal.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Tilak Chandra Deka, Head of the Assamese Department. In his address Professor Deka highlighted the vast works of the great artiste and analyzed the relevance of Bishnu Rabha studies in the present day. Dr Arupa Dutta, Assistant Professor of Education and Himadri Deka Buragohain, office assistant and students of the college performed Rabha Sangeet. Office assistant Hemanta Borah recited a poem composed by Dr Birendra Kumar Bhattacharya on Bishnu Rabha. Principal Dr Lohit Hazarika highlighted the works and songs of Bishnu prasad Rabha.
