Biswanath Chariali: The Biswanath district administration held discussions with several quarters on Wednesday in view of the ensuing Durga Puja in a meeting at the conference hall of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Biswanath. Pabitra Ram Khaound, Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath, presided over the meeting while Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roshan, Additional Superintendent of Police Partha Sarathi Borah, Biswanath Revenue Circle Officer Bisyajit Saikia, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mujaffar Hussein and other officials attended the meeting. The meeting thoroughly discussed various issues and called upon the Durga Puja committees to adhere to the guidelines strictly in order to hold the puja fairly and smoothly.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath, Pabitra Ram Khaound held another meeting with the representatives of the tea gardens of Biswanath district to discuss the issue of paying bonus to the labourers of the respective tea gardens during the festival time. He urged the tea gardens to pay the bonus as soon as possible to avert any untoward incident. Attending the meeting, Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Roshan called upon tea estate authorities to take the help of local police stations in order to maintain law and order in the tea gardens. He also stressed avoiding the consumption of illegal liquor during the festival. The meeting was attended by Labour Officer Jagat Jivan Dutta and other officials.
