DHEKIAJULI: In the 71st Dhekiajuli LAC, Ashok Singhal, the BJP candidate won with a lead of 34,847 votes. His rival candidate from Indian National Congress (INC) Benudhar Nath hoped for a marginal win from the Dhekiajuli LAC. Singhal has won this election for the second time from the prestigious Dhekiajuli LAC. The supporters of Singhal were in jubilant mode after the declaration of the results. The supporters from different parts of Dhekiajuli constituency celebrated his victory by bursting crackers on the roadside. The Dhekiajuli Nagar Mandal Committee's East, West, North and South Mandal greeted Singhal for his win. But no victory procession was brought out due to the prohibition order of the Election Commission of India. The COVID protocol was fully maintained by the BJP supporters and workers. On the other hand, the 72nd Barchala LAC BJP candidate defeated his nearest rival candidate Ram Prasad Sharma from Congress (I) with a margin of 17,428 votes. On the other hand, Assam Jatiya Parishad candidate from Barchala LAC Upenraj Nath secured 10,192 votes and kept the third position in the fray. The supporters of Ganesh Limbu celebrated the victory of their MLA by bursting crackers in the roadside by maintaining strict COVID protocol.
