DHEKIAJULI: The ruling BJP and the opposition Congress (I) parties have declared their official candidates for the Dhekiajuli Municipal Board Elections. The BJP has declared its official candidates for the 10 wards of Dhekiajuli Municipal Board. The names of the candidates which the Dhekiajuli unit of BJP declared on Sunday are from ward number 1- Tridip Nath, ward number 2 -Ranjeeta Jaiswal, ward number 3 - Ashok Dutta, ward number 4 - Puja Chakraborty, ward number 5 -Lipika Saha, ward number 6 - Sushmita Das, ward number 7 -Tulika Saikia, ward number 8 -Tapan Das (Raju), ward number 9 - Dhruba Ranjan Sarkar and ward number 10 -Anju Devi.
On the other hand, Congress (I) of Dhekiajuli Unit declared its official candidates from all the 10 wards of Dhekiajuli Municipal Board on Monday. As per the lists they are, ward number 1 - Samarjyoti Nath, ward number 2 -Krishna Raut, ward number 3 -Sanjoy Sarma, ward number 4 -Tultul Sen Gupta, ward number -5 Kakali Dey, ward number 5 - Sunanda Malo Das, ward number 7 -Nilakhshi Saikia, ward number 8 - Janardan Borah, ward number 9 - Hemendra Das and from ward number 10 - Shakti Rani Das.
The last date of nomination is February 15. The state election commission notified that scrutiny of nominations will be done on February 17, whereas February 20 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature. Counting of EVMs will be held on March 9. For the first time EVMs are going to be used in local body elections in the state and the voting machines will be used in all the polling stations. The published electoral rolls for the municipal boards with respect to January 1, 2022 will be used for the municipal elections.
Meanwhile, several BJP candidates who applied for party tickets and did not get the BJP tickets has decided to contest as independent candidates from different wards of Dhekiajuli Municipal Board.
