SILCHAR: The BJP on Tuesday virtually flagged off its poll campaign in Barak Valley as party’s central vice president as well as state ‘Prabhari’ Baijyanta Panda, state president Bhabesh Kalita, ministers Pijush Hazarika and Jayanta Malla Baruah attended the ‘Maha Janasamparka Abhiyan’ in Hailkandi. Addressing the rally, all the speakers mainly highlighted the various welfare schemes the governments, both in Central as well as in the State, had implemented where commoners were the direct beneficiaries. They further focused on the world wide popularity of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The gathering in the rally was a booster for the party as the people thronged to the venue braving heavy shower.
Later speaking to the media persons, Panda said, the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had been planfully trying to malign the image of the nation in the foreign land, but he would be taught a tough lesson in the ensuing election by the people. Panda said, the delimitation or the restructuring of constituencies had nothing to do with politics as it was exclusively a legal matter to be dealt with by the Election Commission. Jayanta Malla Baruah on the other hand claimed, in next year’s general election the BJP and its allies were eyeing all the 14 seats no matter whether the delimitation was implemented or not. “Our government as well as the party are working hard for the welfare of the common people and we are confident that the people will reciprocate it with their blessings,” Baruah said.
