DHUBRI: Dhubri district BJP Kishan Morcha is creating awareness among farmers to sell their paddy at Minimun Support Price (MSP) to the Food Corporation of India and other government agencies.
This move of creating awareness was taken by BJP Kishan Morcha after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's recent announcement that Assam government would purchase 10 lakh metric ton paddy directly from farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 1,940.
In order to reach out to the farmers with the government's initiative to procure paddy at MSP, Dhubri BJP Kisan Morcha has already organized 53 Gaon Panchayat Sabhas that come under the Sangathanic area of BJP Dhubri district.
Talking to The Sentinel, Dhubri district BJP Kisan Morcha president Amit Agarwala informed that more than 6,000 farmers attended the meetings held and the farmers were assured that their paddy would be purchased by FCI, AFCSCL, NAFED, NAFCO and ASAMB directly without any middlemen in the procurement system.
"Beside Morcha members and Gaon Panchayat-level members of BJP, district Agriculture Officers and officers from Food and Civil Supply Department were also present in the sabhas. Dhubri district BJP president Dr. Debamoy Sanyal presided over the meeting and appealed to the farmers to sell their paddy at MSP," Agarwala said.
