Karbi Anglong (Assam): Howraghat Village Development Committee (VDC) chairman Jisu Kemprai was caught red-handed by police while accepting a bribe from a beneficiary of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) Scheme.
VDC chairman Kemprai is believed to have allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 from Bapon Nath for allotting a PMAY house in a name.
A resident of Jharbongapur village, Nath, approached Howraghat police station.
A trap was laid by police to nab the VDC chairman, when he was accepting a bribe of Rs 9000, in front of Assam Gramin Vikas Bank, Samuguri branch.
Earlier, he had taken Rs 10,000 from Nath.
Kemprai was brought to Howraghat police station where a case was registered against him.
