Kokrajhar:
Ahead of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections on December 7 and 10,
Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) unveiled its election manifesto in a public meeting
held at Dotoma in Kokrajhar District of Assam on Friday.
Assam BJP President Ranjit Dass, Assam Finance Minister
Himanta Bishwa Sarma, BJP MP Dilip Saikia, and Biswajit Daimary were present in
the meeting.
Speaking at the event Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said
the election manifesto has been made based on all three manifestoes of Central, State, and BTC manifesto.
Talking about the implementation of the Bodo Accord,
Sarma said that the saffron party will follow the Bodo Accord which was signed
a few months back. And promised all-round development and peace in Bodoland
Territorial Region (BTR).
Once BJP comes to power in the area all corruption and
commission rules in BTC would be stopped and the people of BTR will also be
benefitted from the schemes of the Central government such are Arunodoi,
Arundhati schemes, Swayam, etc. Sarma said.
The manifesto states that both the Bodo and Assamese
languages will be given equal importance and will be taken forward
simultaneously. It further states that people living on government land in BTC
have the right to add land leases, which will complete the permitting process
to buy and sell land in a month.
Sarma said, the saffron party will establish high schools
and higher secondary schools in each subdivision of BTR and a Bodo University
in Udalguri, a medical college in Tamulpur, and 40 stadiums would be set up.
He further said that additional funds will be
released by the Central government for
the Self Help Group (SHG) and for the development work of BTC.
Minister Sarma took to Twitter and posted a video.
"We share the same dream of taking BTC and Assam to newer heights. The sentiments resonate as people come out in large numbers at our Public Meeting in Dotoma, #Kokrajhar. We shall make #Bodoland scale new heights."Sarma said in his tweet.
