HAFLONG: BJP will win all the 28 seats of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council even if the election is held in this month, claimed Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa while addressing reporters at Harangajao recently.

As the terms of the 12th Dima Hasao Autonomous Council are nearing its completion, poll campaign for the 13th DHAC has been started though the date for election is yet to be declared. The poll is likely to be held during December or January next as speculated by many political experts.

CEM Gorlosa said that they have already come up with their election strategy for forthcoming election and are confident that they will win 28 out of 28 seats.

Dismissing the claim of Dima Hasao Trinamool Congress that the BJP would have to seek blessings of TMC to form the council, CEM Gorlosa said that TMC’s activities helped the saffron party to be more stronger since TMC will cut Congress vote.

In 2019, Indian National Congress had won two most populated and prestigious constituencies i.e Haflong and Garampani, CEM Gorolsa said that they were fully confident and will win both the seats.

“We are fully ready for the election, 5-6 constituencies may go unopposed, I’ve heard that some opposition leaders have started campaigning with a view to mislead the people but that will not affect us, since we are dedicated towards development and well being of our people. Public have seen what we have done in the last 7 years be it road sector, water supply or education sector. They will votes for better road, stadium, water connectivity, education and for developments.” Gorlosa said.

Answering the questions of media persons in regards to the entry of new faces, CEM said there have been chances for new faces to come for the forth coming poll but it will depend on party’s decision and the party ticket will be awarded only to those who have been working for the society, public and of course he or she should have public mandate.

In 2019 Dima Hasao Autonomous Council election BJP won 19 seats out of 28, INC won 2 seats in most populated constituency i.e Haflong and Garampani while the AGP won 1 seat and the rest won by BJP backed independent candidates. Later, AGP elected member and 1 INC member defected to saffron party.
