LAKHIMPUR: The Bodo-Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) and United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO) have decided to conduct a slew of programmes in Bangladesh in order to build bridge with the people hailing from Bodo root living in Bangladesh. The programmes will be conducted in different places under the country where people hailing from Bodo root live.

BKWAC and UBPO took the decision in a discussion event held in cordial environment with two representatives hailing from Bodo root living in Bangladesh. The event was held on Tuesday in the office of the BKWAC, located at Survey of Beltola in Guwahati. Nabaleswar Tripura, the president of the Youth Wing of the Tripura Kalyan Sansad and Jharna Tripura, on behalf of the people hailing from Bodo root living in Bangladesh, took part in the discussion. On the other hand, BKWAC Chief Mihiniswar Basumatary, Deputy Speaker Srijwn Basumatary, Executive Members Anil Basumatary, Pradip Swargiyari, Pranab Boro, Dasarath Boro, Muhipal Boro, Joykanta Boro, UBPO president Manuranjan Basumatary, vice-president Lalit Chandra Brahma, general secretary Pitambar Brahma, assistant general secretary Abiram Boro took part in the event.

In the event, a detailed discussion was held over the community heritage, art and culture, tradition of the people of Bodo root living in Bangladesh. During the discussion, stress was laid on upholding of social, cultural and ethnic identity of the tribes hailing from Bodo root living in Bangladesh, paying importance and priority in strengthening the bridge of correspondence, bond of love and harmony among the native tribes living in India and Bangladesh. In order to interchange the thoughts among them, the slew of programmes are planned to conduct in the upcoming days, informed UBPO general secretary Pitambar Brahma and BKWAC EM Anil Basumatary.
