DOOMDOOMA: The All Adivasi Students' of Association of Assam (AASAA), Doomdooma Anchalik Committee observed World Environment Day in association with the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Doomdooma Anchalik Committee, by planting saplings of fruit trees in various places like Doomdooma town field, Hoonlal HS School, Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha (DSXX) and Doomdooma Revenue Circle Office. The day was also observed by Doomdooma Hoonlal HS School and Doomdooma Girls' Secondary School. On the other hand, in Baghjan oil well blowout site, the members of Baghjan Gaon Milanjyoti Yuba Sangha observed World Environment Day as 'Black Environment Day' to signify the adverse environmental impact that the gas leak had on the surrounding areas where a prime wetland and an Important Bird Area (IBA) -the Maguri Motapung Beel -and biodiversity hotspot like Dibru-Saikhowa National Park are located.
