Bodo folk song and dance festival held in Kalbari Bathou Temple, Tamulpur

Tamulpur: A festival of Bodo folk song and dance was held with a day-long colourful programme at the premises of Kalbari Bathou Temple recently under Tamulpur subdivision in the district of Baksa. It was organized by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs in association with Tamulpur Cultural Centre.

The festival was inaugurated by lighting of lamp by Haren Boro, vice-president of Tamulpur District Bodo Sahitya Sabha. He said that the Bodo community was rich in culture and this culture must be established the world over. He appreciated the State Cultural Department and Cultural Officer of Tamulpur Cultural Centre, Juganta Bayan for his initiative to develop and upgrade the culture of the Bodos as well as the Bodo folk songs and folk dances.

In this festival, Alarayan Harimu Afad, Kumarikata Ranjali Harimu Afad, Kalbari Harimu Afad, Baraliyapar Chanjourang Kherai Afad along with various cultural groups performed Bodo folk dances and Pratima Brahma Uzir, Daimalu Basumatary, Nirma Daimary and Kanchanima Swargiary performed Bodo folk songs. Bodo folk artistes Naren Boro, Deben Boro, Krishnakanta Uzir, Krishna Uzir, Srikanta Basumatary and Chandi Khakhlary were felicitated with Aronai.
