KOKRAJHAR: The 62nd session of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), held at Rani Khalaishree Fwthar, Patgaon in Kokrajhar district entered its third day on Saturday amidst several hundreds of delegates and observers coming from Assam, West Bengal, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nepal and Bangladesh.
Talking to media persons during the flag hoisting ceremony, the president of BSS Taren Boro said the Bodo literature came to this stage at the relentless efforts and dedications of the leaders and thinkers of the BSS. He said the BSS had been working hard for the development and strong foundation of Bodo language and literature. He also said the Sanha leaders and members had been working with challenging attitude to establish Bodo as the medium of instruction in Assam and efforts are on to pressurize the government of West Bengal to introduce Bodo as medium of instruction especially in North Bengal.
Boro said the BSS focused on the development of digital literature that becomes very essential in the present context. He said the BSS had swung in to action to go for digital mode. The Bodo language was included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution after the signing of BTC accord in 2003 between the government of India, Assam and BLT, he said adding that it was a great achievement on the part of the BSS that Bodo language has become one of the 24 scheduled Indian languages.
On the alleged political influence in the Sabha activities, Boro said it was not untrue that on certain occasions the political interference was seen but the BSS had never derailed from its mission to develop Bodo language and literature. He said the support of the government was necessary to carry out various programmes and projects and thus the BSS bounds to approach political leaders when they need help. He also said no BSS member derailed from its track and in future too the BSS will work as per its philosophy to develop Bodo language, literature and medium.
Earlier in the morning, the president of the BSS Taren Boro hoisted the flag of the Sanha while Ramila Islary, vice president paid homage to martyrs and Sitharam Basumatary, another vice president paid floral tribute to departed BSS activists. The president of the BSS also inspected the guard of honour by parade contingents.
