KOKRAJHAR: The Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) on Wednesday remembered former president of the Sabha, Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma on his 20th death anniversary, organized jointly by the BSS and the Bineswar Brahma Trust, at his burial place at Chandamari near Gaurang River in Kokrajhar.
As part of the programme, the vice-president of the BSS, Ramela Islary hoisted the organizational flag at half-mast while the younger sister of Bineswar, Saya Rani Brahma paid rich floral tribute.
Talking to reporters, former deputy chief of BTC, Kampa Borgoyari said that Bineswar Brahma was a great leader who made the way for inclusion of Bodo language in the 8th Schedule. He said that Brahma was one of the greatest leaders to make Bodo a master race in the world and the BTC had named the engineering college in his name.
Former Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma said that Brahma was the harbinger of the Bodos. He said that Brahma stood against terrorist activities and worked for peace and tranquillity, besides dedicating his life for the cause of development of Bodo language and literature. The programme was also attended by the general secretary of the ABSU, Lawrence Islary and other dignitaries.
