TANGLA: Bodoland People's Front (BPF) has been demanding the holding of immediate BTC polls before the expiry of Governor's Rule on October 27. The members and supporters of the party took out a torchlight rally across the 40 BTC constituencies on Wednesday evening. The members and supporters of the party under Khalingduar block BPF took out a torchlight rally throughout Tangla town and raised slogans to save democracy and hold BTC polls by maintaining COVID-19 protocol.

Khalingduar block BPF general secretary Sankar Sarkar said, "The BTC poll has been indefinitely postponed due to the pandemic. But if other states can hold polls, why has the BTC poll been indefinitely postponed?" he said.

He further lambasted the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) leaders and said that the leaders of UPPL were making many promises to the voters. But he expressed confidence that people would once again repose faith in the BPF and the BPF would form the BTC government for the fourth consecutive term.
