KALAIGAON: A bamboo bridge at Bhehguri village connecting Mekenzi road to Rupatal under PWD division of Udalguri was inaugurated by Diganta Baruah, Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), in presence of the contractor engaged with the work, Bulbul Hoque on Friday.
According to locals, the Noa River had overflowed due to heavy rainfall and flooded these areas in June. Consequently, the bridge on the road from Bhehguri connecting Mekenzito Rupatal was also washed away by the floods on June 16 and vital communication link had been cut-off totally. After that, Circle Officer Kaberi Rongpi visited areas like Bhehguri, Ruptal and Balipara and directed the authority concerned to rebuild the bamboo bridge immediately. After that, the bridge was constructed under supervision of PWD Assistant Engineer Harekrishna Sarma and this bridge was formally opened for the people on Friday.
