GOALPARA: In a case of suspected murder, the body of an APDCL outreach worker was found on Sunday at Saktola village under Kharmuza police station of the Goalpara district. The deceased, Azad Ali, a resident of Pancharatna Ghat about 7 km from Goalpara town, was missing since Saturday.

"He went out to check few meter readings on Saturday and had asked his wife to prepare lunch for him. But as he didn't return till evening, our relatives carried out a search operation," said his brother. Later, his bike was recovered from the bottom of the Borbhita hill on the same night.

On Sunday morning, Azad Ali's body was recovered from a pond of Saktola village reportedly wrapped in a plastic. The police, after recovering the body, sent it to the Goalpara civil hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the union members of the outsource workers have demanded immediate arrest and punishment of the culprits, besides an ex gratia for the victim's family.
