Diphu: The body of the second girl has been found almost a week after she, along with another girl, had gone missing in Karbi Anglong.
The incident took place in Chowkihowla Lakhiram village under Bokajan constituency in Karbi Anglong.
According the Karbi Anglong police, the body of the girl was found in a semi-naked state in the deep jungles along which the Doigrung River flows.
The two girls had gone fishing to the Doigrung River last Saturday at around 9 am in the morning and did not return home. The two girls belonged to Lakhiram village under Bokajan's constituency.
The locals had filled a missing complaint at the Bokajan Police station following which a massive search operation was launched.
Last Sunday, the police had investigated the matter in the presence of the magistrate and found the body of the other girl in a naked state. The condition of the body had raised suspicions of a case of rape and murder. However, no clue was found about the whereabouts of the teenage girl.
The search operations for the teenage girl was still underway and was conducted by the police personnel, members of the Karbi Students' Union and local villagers. The body of the teenage girl was finally recovered on Friday in a semi naked state.
The body has now been sent for post mortem. The body of the teenage girl bore many injury marks. It is suspected that the girl has been killed by miscreants.
The police are still investigating on the matter but no arrests have been made so far.
