Body recovered from drain near Banipur Railway station

DIBRUGARH: Sensation prevailed here at Banipur following recovery of a body in a drain near Banipur Railway station. The body bore several injury marks in the face, chest and head which clearly indicate that the assailants killed the person in some other place and later dumped the body in the drain located in the rear portion of Banipur Railway station.

On being, informed police rushed to the spot and sent the body to AMC&H for postmortem. In preliminary investigation, police could not identify the person but after tracing his mobile phone at Chandmarighat, Paltanbazar, police identified the person as Mujibur Rahman, son of Ataur Rahman of Kacharibari, Boiragimath.

Father of two sons, slain Rahman was missing from the evening of December 12. Though family members lodged a missing report of Mujibur at the Gavarupathar Police Station on December 13, police failed to trace the missing person till the recovery of the body. Police investigation is on. No one has been arrested till the filing of this report.
