Guwahati: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has come for the rescue of the Assam flood victims with a whopping donation of Rs 51 lakh. After a range of Bollywood celebs making donations for Assam flood and requesting the people of the nation to extend a hand of help to the flood-affected people of the northeastern state.

The megastar of the millennium has made the donation to the Chief minister's Relief Fund for being of use in the rescue, rehabilitation and repairings of the flood-affected people and villagers of the state. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has taken to express his gratitude towards the Bollywood star by making a tweet. The Twitter post reads: "We appreciate Shri Amitabh Bachchan ji for contributing Rs. 51 lakh to Chief Minister's Relief Fund. This is a great gesture & show of care for the people. Thank you, on behalf of the people of Assam, for your support.

Before this, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar provided a sum of Rs 1 crore as a donation to the people of Assam, along with also contributing an equal amount for the animals of Kaziranga National Park.

On the other hand, popular Assamese actor Jatin Borah has made a donation of Rs 1 lakh for the flood victims. The actor handed over the cheque of Rs 1 lakh to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to be added in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). Promising sports figure of the state, Riyan Parag Das too have come forward and made a contribution of Rs 1 lakh to the CMRF. Assam born famous filmmaker Rima Das too has proved that she too is a dutiful child of the land by donating Rs 1 lakh. Another noted Assamese and national actor Seema Biswas have made a contribution of Rs 5 lakhs. However, Assam sprinter Hima Das has announced to donate half of her one month's salary for her state and its people.
