Bongaigaon: In line with NITI Aayog’s stress on pacing up development by involving the Public and the Private sectors, memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth Rs 40 lakhs was signed between the Bongaigaon district administration and the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on Thursday. Bongaigaon DC, Adil Khan and Indian Oil’s Assam Oil Division Manager (Law), Kamal Kumar Goswami signed the MoU on behalf of the administration and the IOCL respectively in the presence of Minister Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Phani Bhusan Choudhury.
As part of this initiative, the IOCL under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has come forward to provide fund for construction of separate toilets for girls and boys, students and ladies and gents teachers and dining hall for mid-day meal at Birjhora Girls High School, Bongaigaon. The estimated cost of the projects is Rs 40 (Forty) lakhs out of which Rs 19 lakhs is allotted for Toilet Blocks and Rs 21lakhs for dining hall. As per the MoU, the district administration shall be solely responsible for executing the project and related activities while the IOCLs role shall be limited to providing financial assistance only.
DC Adil Khan thanked the IOCL for coming forward for this initiative and working jointly towards alleviating the challenges of sanitation in the district and realizing the goals of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The CSR model has proven to be an effective approach to promote inclusive and sustainable development. He looked forward for more such initiatives by the Corporate. A press release stated.
