BONGAIGAON: Dr MS Lakshmi Priya, Deputy Commissioner of Bongaigaon, reviewed the developmental activities under the Departments of Handloom and Textile, Social Forestry, Aie Valley Forest Division, Sericulture, Fishery, Agriculture etc, at a meeting held in the conference hall of the DC's office, Bongaigaon on Thursday.
As per instruction of the Deputy Commissioner, the Superintendent of Handloom and Textile conducted a survey to identify weavers in the district. The Superintendent informed in the meeting that 3376 weavers were identified after survey in Bongaigaon district till date and survey was going on. The Superintendent informed that under Mudra loan, target was given by the Directorate office to select 100 weavers from Bongaigaon. The Superintendent of Sericulture also informed that in Bongaigaon, 12,000 Som seedlings were raised in the three nurseries set up in Nayagaon, Boitamari and Khagarpur under Muga Mission.
The District Fishery Development Officer, Bongaigaon informed that the work of public aquarium built under the Collaborative Project between the district administration, Gauhati University and National Bureau of Fish Genetic Research, Lucknow at Bongaigaon Eco-park for rearing ornamental fish was complete.
Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forestry, Bongaigaon informed in the meeting that seedlings were planted with the support of PWD, CRPF, SSB and NGOs in the district. Activities of Agriculture, Veterinary, Soil Conservation, Co-operative, DICC, NRLM and NULM were also reviewed by Dr Lakshmi Priya, the Deputy Commissioner of Bongaigaon.
