Bongaigaon police nabbed robber in the town

BONGAIGAON: Following information, Bongaigaon police nabbed a robber on Thursday night. He has been identified as Izhar Khan, a resident of Paglasthan area of Bongaigaon town.

He was nabbed by a police team led by Sib Prasad Kalita, IC, New Bongaigaon police outpost. Kalita said that Izhar Khan and his accomplice had snatched a gold chain from a woman on June 4 when the woman was going to Dangtol area from Bongaigaon. "As per statement of the woman, the robbers came in a bike without number plate. We investigated the matter and finally nabbed Izhar Khan yesterday. Following his confession, we conducted a raid in a jewelry shop at Natunpara area of Bongaigaon town where they had sold the gold chain. The jewelry shop owner, Pankaj Shah has been taken under custody and he also confessed that he purchased the stolen gold chain. He said that he melted the chain. We recovered the melted gold from him. Both were produced in court on Friday," the IC said.
