Bongaigaon: Protesting against handing over of several passenger trains to the private parties, North East Frontier Railway Mazdoor Union Bongaigaon branch, in association with New Bongaigaon BG, Workshop and running branch staged a demonstration today at Bongaigaon Railway platform. The programme started at 9:30 am which continued for two hours where several leaders like Joint General Secretary of NFRMU Ashish Biswas, Vice President of NFRMU Phanidhar Das Sambhu Prasad Das and Secretary and President of NFRMU, Bongaigaon branch, Dipen Bora, MR Nayak, President New Bongaigaon branch Pabitra Barman and Secretary and President of Workshop branch Nirmal Chakraborty were present.

Addressing the mass, Ashish Biswas said that the government wants to finish the public sector and handover entire Railways to private sector. “For this, the government is conspiring to show that the Railways is running at a loss. Then it will be convenient for them to sell it to the corporate houses. But if once it goes under private organization, then Indian Railways will never remain as a cheap communication which every Indian can afford. All kinds of fare, charges will increase and only elite class people would be able to afford it. We shall never remain to be it and will continue our Indiawide agitation,” he said. This protest day is observed throughout India on Friday at places like Lumding, Alipurduar, Tinsukia, Maligaon etc., which was called by the All India Railwayman's Federation.
