3rd Dhakuakhana Book Fair concludes successfully

LAKHIMPUR: The Dhakuakhana Book Fair 2021 concluded with grand success on Saturday amid a positive response from book lovers. This year the six-day long programme was organized from December 20 to December 25 at Dhakuakhana public playground in a view to attract the upcoming generation towards books, to arouse their interest and pleasure in studying books and to carry on an intellectual revolution among the public. Education Minister Dr Ranoj Kumar Pegu took part in the concluding ceremony-cum-open session of the event as chief guest.

"Books are the most invaluable resources of the world. Books store the treasure of wisdom. We can think about the future through books. We can go back to the past through it too. So, we should continue a revolution of studying books," the Education Minister said while delivering his lecture. He expressed his contentment on seeing the healthy environment of a book fair in Dhakuakhana, the birthplace of prominent intellectual Homen Borgohain.

The open session commenced with Dr Girin Gogoi, the president of the Book Fair Organizing Committee, in the chair. It was inaugurated by writer-poet Siva Prashad Gogoi.

In the same programme, prizes were given away to the participants who secured positions in the State level online essay writing competition, along with quiz competition, poetry recitation competition drawing competition, letter writing competition etc. organized by literary and cultural sub-committee on the occasion of the book fair. Moreover, a host of senior, prominent citizens who contributed much to various fields of Dhakuakhana, were also given warm felicitation in the programme. In the evening cultural programmes were organized.
