DHUBRI: In yet another success in its crusade against trans-border crime, on Tuesday the vigilant troops under the aegis of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force apprehended 2 Indian smugglers and seized 50 bottles of prohibited cough syrup in different operations from bordering area of Coochbehar district in West Bengal and Dhubri.

Acting on a specific intelligence input on Tuesday, troops of 129 Bn apprehended 1 Indian smuggler and seized 50 bottles of prohibited cough syrup from his possession while frisking at fence gate when the consignment was to be smuggled to Bangladesh. The apprehended smuggler along with the seized items have been handed over to Sahebganj Police Station for further legal action.

In another operation, acting on a tip off, on Tuesday, troops of 41 Bn apprehended 1 Indian smuggler from Indo-Bangladesh border in Bansichar village under Dhubri Police Station. The apprehended smuggler along with the seized items were handed over to Dhubri Police Station for further action.

Keeping in view of the vulnerability of border, heightened activities of the smugglers and anti-national elements on the border, BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes and are making all out efforts to prevent commission of such crimes, stated a press release.
