BOKO: After the Election Commission of India (ECI) issued the directives for the delimitation of constituencies, six Boro organisations from South Kamrup organised a press meet at South Kamrup Boro Students’ Union headquarter in Boko on Saturday. The press conference was jointly organized by the Nikhil Boro Chhatra Sanstha, Boro Jatiya Parishad, Boro Sahitya Sabha, Boko Regional Boro Jatiya Parishad, Dularai Boro Harimu Afad, Dularai Batho Mahasabha and Boro Mahila Kalyan Parishad.

By welcoming the final draft of the legislative assembly constituencies the press meet was presided over by Nagarmal Swargiary, president of the South Kamrup District Boro Jatiya Parishad.

Expressing happiness with the ECI’s decision, Nagarmal Swargiary said, “The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued the final draft for the delimitation of Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies in Assam on August 11 and for this we Boro organisations from South Kamrup are grateful to the ECI. The Election Commission of India, Chief Election Department in Assam, Government of Assam and other persons have finalized the reconstitution of the three constituencies of Boko, Chaygaon and Palashbari of the South Kamrup Assembly based on the recommendations made by the Boro National Organization of South Kamrup from 2002 to July 19, 2023.”

Swargiary said, “The reservation of Boko Chaygaon constituency for the tribals has brought great responsibility among the tribal people and the responsibility of this constituency will have to be taken directly by the tribals. Therefore, the Boro national organizations will take a leading, conscious and intelligent decisive role in the MLA elections.”.
