KOKRAJHAR: The 70th Bodo Literary Day or Boro Thunlai Saan, was observed in different parts of Assam and West Bengal to mark the foundation day of Boro Sahitya Sabha on Wednesday.

In Kokrajhar, the Kokrajhar Primary Boro Sahitya Sabha observed the day at Swmdwnpuri in Kokrajhar town in a befitting manner. As part of the programme, Praneswar Basumatary, president of Kokrajhar Primary BSS, hoisted the Sabha flag followed by homage to martyrs of the Bodo language and literature movement.

The Bodoland University and Kokrajhar Government College also observed the Bodo Literary Day with various programme. The day was also observed by district and unit committees of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, and educational institutions in different parts of Assam, West Bengal and Meghalaya where there are Bodo population.

Meanwhile, the central committee of the BSS observed the day in New Delhi. The CEM of BTC, Pramod Boro also attended the programme along with other dignitaries. It was on this day in 1952 that the Boro Sahitya Sabha was formed in Basugaon, now in Chirang district, with Jaybhadra Hagzer and Sonaram Thaosen as president and secretary respectively.
