KOKRAJHAR: The special convention of the All India Bodo People's National League for Bodoland Statehood (BPNLB) led by former MP SK Bwiswmuthiary will be held on March 17-March 19 in the premises of Udalguri Sangeet Natya Vidyapith Auditorium, Udalguri town to discuss the demerits of the 3rd Bodo Accord.

The president of the BPNLB, SK Bwiswmuthiary stated that the convention would be held with a noble objective of having in-depth deliberations on the post-3rd Bodo Accord scenario, with special mention to the implicit and explicit damaging impacts and effects of certain detrimental clauses of the MoS of the accord. He said that the unresolved historic and century-old conflict with regard to the long-standing aspiration of the Bodo people for attainment of statehood for Bodoland would also be discussed.

Bwiswmuthiary said that the deserving official status for Bodo language in the State of Assam as per the provision of Article 345 of the Constitution consequent upon the Bodo language also having been included in the 8th Schedule to the Constitution by an Act of Indian Parliament in 2003; protection and preservation of the inalienable traditional rights of the aboriginal Bodo tribal people over their ancestral lands and territories both within and outside the tribal belts and blocks in the whole state of Assam; realization of the benefits of the UN declaration on the rights of the indigenous people; socio-economic, ethno-cultural, linguistic-educational and political problems related issues of the Bodo origin people living across the whole country and elsewhere and exploration of the best possible effective strategies to get rid of the negative impacts and effects of certain detrimental clauses of the MoS of the 3rd Bodo Accord; and adoption of concrete broad-based policy decisions for attaining the political right of self-determination of the aboriginal Bodo tribal people within their own ancestral territories within the political map of India at par with the rest of the country would be widely discussed.

Sources said the open session of the convention would be attended by Gegong Apang, the former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh as the chief guest, apart from many dignitaries and few selected leaders from other tribal groups of Northeast India and elsewhere.
