Meanwhile, a public event was organized in Majuli as part of which different cultural events were held.

Speaking of the significance of the mighty river Brahmaputra, CM Sonowal said that the river is the identity, the culture and the economy of the state. The initiative taken under Brahmaputra Aamantran Abhiyan (BAA) is designed in a way so that people can understand the details and intricacies of a mighty river such as the Brahmaputra. Saying that the main take away from the expedition lies in living sustainably with the river such that it ensures both people's benefits and the river's welfare, CM Sonowal further focused on respecting nature and finding ways to preserve it.

According to reports, the team aboard the river rafting mission was on a three-day stay in Assam, beginning Tuesday. The rafting team attended the cultural events and even visited some important satras for which Majuli is widely known. Besides, a whole series of events was lined up for the BAA team, including presentations and activities related to the theme of 'Living with the River' and events participated by partner organisations IIT Guwahati and Northeast Space Application Centre. The BAA rafting team left Assam today.

Notably, the BAA began its rafting venture on December 23 from Gelling in Arunachal Pradesh near Indo-China border. The river rafting expedition on the trans-boundary Brahmaputra river was flagged off by Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju. As per reports, the expedition is set to complete its mission on January 21 in Assameralga, Mankachar District of Assam near Indo-Bangladesh Boarder.

It is worth mentioning that the expedition Brahmaputra Aamantran Abhiyan (BAA) is initiated by Ministry of Jal Shakti under Government of India. The month-long river rafting mission is undertaken by a team of NDRF personnel and focuses on creating awareness about sustainable practices and popularising the idea of coexisting with nature and river rejuvenation. The daunting but exciting river expedition is said to cover a total distance of 917 kilometres.
