GUWAHATI: As the countdown commences for the highly anticipated eighth edition of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF), filmmakers from every corner of India are invited to participate in this celebrated cinematic extravaganza. The festival, known as the Northeast's most prestigious film event, will be hosted in the vibrant city of Guwahati in December, courtesy of Tattva Creation.
BVFF has firmly established itself as a beacon for meaningful cinema and artistic creativity, shining a spotlight on the captivating blend of natural beauty, diverse cultures, and boundless talent within the Northeast region of India. Over the years, BVFF has etched an indelible mark, drawing nearly 200,000 film enthusiasts, with an average of 20,000 visitors attending each of its previous editions.
This festival has evolved into a cornerstone of the Indian Film Festival Circuit, earning widespread recognition and support from industry luminaries. In its eighth iteration, the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival introduces categories for film submissions in the Competition section, which now include feature films and documentaries, in addition to the short films section.
Moreover, the festival will also proudly showcase films and cinematic works in the non-competition category. This expansion aims to broaden the platform for budding talent and provide a stage for the finest works in meaningful and creative cinema.
Despite facing recent global challenges, BVFF is returning with a renewed vision to honor meaningful filmmaking, not only on the national stage but also on the international platform.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the upcoming edition, Tanushree Hazarika, the Festival Director of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival, stated, "It has been a remarkable journey organizing seven successful editions of BVFF, and we are thrilled to prepare for the eighth edition in December 2023.
