BISWANATH CHARIALI: The first annual session of the All Biswanath District Students’ Union will be held on June 10 and June 11 in the historic Gadhehagi village, Biswanath Chariali with a two-day long programme. A strong reception committee comprising eminent social worker Naren Sharma as president and AASU central executive member Rupam Das as general secretary has made preparations in full swing. Along with the reception committee, various sub-committees including memorials, publicity, finance, cultural etc have also been gearing up for the session. A meeting of the publicity committee was held at the Biswanath AASU office on Saturday which provided information about the preparations to media persons.
The main programmes include tree plantation, ‘Student Solidarity Day’ in memory of the martyrs of the 1974 food movement Putul Saikia and Gajen Ingti, painting competition, Dihanam competition, opening of the exhibition gate, delegate session etc on day one. The day two will begin with flag hoisting followed by Swahid tarpan, the cultural gathering etc. AASU’s Chief Advisor Dr Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya, AASU’s in-charge president Utpal Sharma, secretary Shankarjyoti Baruah, journalist Sonit Kumar Bhuyan and other dignitaries will be present as guests of honour in the open session of the programme. The celebration committee has sought the presence and cooperation of the people in these programmes.
