Tezpur: As the nation celebrates 75 years of Independence, the Prime Minister of India has envisioned the celebrations of the year as "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav". Commemorating the momentous occasion, Border Roads Organization under the able guidance of Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhry, Director General, Border Roads, had taken a challenging task of Pan India Motorcycle expedition to cover about 20,000 kms in over 75 days by "BRO Karamyogis". This expedition was flagged off by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on October 14 from Delhi. Since then these daredevils have covered 5141 kms by covering various important as well as difficult mountain passes like Pang, Leh, Kargil, Srinagar, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Nathula, Guwahati etc.

The expedition team reached Tezpur on Tuesday. From here the expedition is to be led by Project Vartak till Doomdooma where Project Udayak is going to take over on November 15. The motorcycle daredevils were welcomed by Brigadier Harish Kumar, Chief Engineer Project Vartak Tezpur, where they will be staying for a couple of days when they will be leaving for Itanagar for their next destination on November 11. Tezpur MLA, Prithiraj Rava has given his consent to flag off the BRO Motorcycle expedition from CE (P) Vartak location on November 11.
