GUWAHATI: Some more twists and turns add up to the ongoing Assam-Mizoram border row as the Mizo Student's Association has now issued a press release supporting the controversial Mizoram MP, K Vanlalvena who has been accused for his alleged involvement in the whole bloody fiasco.
The letter by the Mizo Student's union read, "Pu K Vanlalvena, MZP Ex President (1995-1996) MP, Rajya Sabha has been threatened by the Assam Government. He has been conspired, blamed and charged against different criminal cases in connection with Assam-Mizoram border conflict. Mizo Zirlai Pawl gives full support to K Vanlalvena."
The letter further mentioned on a threatening mode to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma saying, "Any problems should not be happened to him. This is also an information to Himanta Biswa Sarma, the CM of Assam."
Furthermore, sources have confirmed that the Mizoram Police have booked Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with four other senior Assam Police officers namely, Inspector General (IG) of Assam Police Anurag Aggarwal, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Cachar Devojyoti Mukherjee, Cachar Superintendent of Police Cahndrakant Nimbalkar, and officer in-charge of Dholai Police Station, Sahab Uddin, while accusing them of attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy, along with other intimidating charges. According to the Mizoram Police FIR, there are additional 200 other unidentified police personnel of the Assam Police who have also been named so far.
It may also be mentioned, further intimidating the Assam Chief Minister, the President of Mizo Students' Union, J. Lalmuanzuala had the audacity of issuing a 'Open-Threat' letter.
The threat letter read,
"Dear Himantaji,
Hon'ble Chief Minister, Assam
You have initiated violence against civilians in Mizoram knowing fully well that your actions can hamper the cordial relationship we have with the Indian Union for your selfish motives to take away the land that our ancestors had fought for through blood and sweat. This has led to the unfortunate death of 7 precious lives.
This havoc you have created has a hidden agenda and political motif and interest from your part and we are not ignorant to this. Within the Inner Line Reserve Forest Area of 509 Sq Miles, there are many illegal immigrants from Bangladesh who reside in the area. Your sheer attempt to appease this population and give them an autonomous district council to strengthen your political ambition must end immediately.
Your false proclamations in media and public to hide the actual truth is known and using your peoples' lives to achieve greatness is unworthy, shameful and far from gallantry and all your attempts shall fizzle out and the truth has become more apparent now. Hopefully one day, the blood that you have made use of from your people will come back to you and destroy you.
Before your entrance into the world of politics, there was peace among the Northeast States under the umbrella of the nomenclature 'Seven Sisters'. However, your disrespect and disregard to this unity because of your personal political ambitions even to the point of death have threatened and shaken the peace among the sisters. In short, you have made enemies with all your neighbouring Northeast States.
Do not make a mistake of taking the Mizos for granted. If you do not want peace under the umbrella of the Indian Union, know that Mizoram has had a history of insurgency and taking arms in the past. We shall not shy away from you if you push us.
Last but not the least, know this and remember it well. Mizos are peaceful people and we wish to live in peace in the Union of India but if you go against this better judgement and encroach and use violence to push us, we will not take one step back from the land of our ancestors. We shall hold still and act accordingly.
Sincerely yours,
Sd/-
(J. LALMUANZUALA)
President, Mizo Students' Union
General Headquarters: Aizawl"
Meanwhile, to this intimidating threat letter, the always cool headed Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is known for his rhetoric and a cool minded attribute, had a befitting reply to the students' union President J. Lalmuanzuala. He tweeted saying, "Brother-You are dialing a wrong number!"
It now remains to be seen that, what's next for 'the war of words' and cross border intimidations!
