BSF Apprehends Smugglers With Yaba Tablets Near Indo-Bangladesh

GUWAHATI: On the Indo-Bangladesh international border, Border Security Force (BSF) troops foiled a smuggling attempt and apprehended one narcotics smuggler along with prohibited Yaba (methamphetamine) tablets, according to officials on Saturday. This was yet another victory in the BSF's campaign against trans-border crimes and drug trafficking.

On March 11, 2023, BSF forces of BOP Kalaicharbari Ex-49 BN BSF captured an Indian smuggler and recovered 718 outlawed Yaba tablets worth Rs 3.59 lakh from his possession, according to officials acting on valid information.

The police have received the detained smuggler and the confiscated goods in preparation for further legal action. The observant border guards working for Guwahati Border also nabbed 62.3 kg of marijuana, 446 bottles of phenethyl, and 85 bottles of Eskuf syrup during previous operations.

The BSF troops are constantly alert to thwart trans-border crimes, including drug trafficking, and are making all-out efforts to prevent the commission of such crimes, according to officials, who point to the border's vulnerability and the increased activities of drug traffickers and anti-national elements on the border.

The Border Security Force (BSF) discovered 23 gold biscuits worth Rs 1.43 crore from the international border in West Bengal's North 24 Paraganas as part of a campaign against smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border, according to officials on Thursday.

The seized gold is 2.683 kg in weight, according to BSF officers. According to trustworthy intelligence, the event happened on March 9th, 2023, while the BSF jawans were already on high alert.

A smuggler was seen approaching the border barrier from Bangladesh when they were there. He threw a packet over the fence in response to the soldiers' orders to stop and ran back to Bangladesh's side.

However, the jawans arrived at the location and thoroughly searched the surrounding area. The jawans found a packet of 23 gold cookies during their search. According to BSF officials, the soldiers promptly alerted their company commander.
