MANGALDAI: BTC chief Hagrama Mahilary dedicated the state-of-the-art Hirimba Bathou Thansali or Hirimba Bathou Mandir at village Chinakona near Khairabari of Bhergon subdivision in Udalguri district to the followers of the Bathou religion.
Though heavy downpour marred the festivity of the inaugural function since morning, Despite the downpour, a large number of ‘Bathou’ religion followers, village elders, women and younger generation in their traditional attire took part in the function with deep faith and feeling in their hearts and mind.
A total amount of Rs. 300 lakh have been spent for the completion of the construction of this temple in an area of 14 bighas of land. Significantly, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary on Sunday did not offer even a single word in the inaugural speech. He was accompanied by Rajya Sabha member Biswajit Daimary, Executive Member of BTC Lwmshrw Daimary, Kalaigaon legislator Maheswar Boro and a number of BPF activists and senior religious personalities in the inaugural function.
Earlier, Rajya Sabha Member Biswajit Daimary, as per the ‘Bathou’ tradition and rituals, performed the Jalapuja (worshipping of the Water God) in the beautifully decorated pond adjacent to the temple. He also unveiled the main entrance gate to the temple.
