KOKRAJHAR: Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTC, Pramod Boro has announced various schemes in the name of noted Bodo personalities who sacrificed for the cause of Bodoland. Boro announced the construction of Bir Chilagang Basumatary Memorial Mini Stadiums at Rowta, Dwarkuchi, Koklabari, Barghuli and Chandrapara with Rs 5 crore each.

Bir Chilagang Basumatary was the founder chairman of the Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT). He also announced construction of Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma Bodoland Knowledge Centre in 420 VCDCs in memory of former president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Bineswar Brahma; Jalako Narzary Memorial Cinema Halls in five towns and cities in the name of noted actor of the first Bodo feature film Alayaron which received Rajat Kamal national award in 1986; and Martyr Sujit Narzary Memorial Auditorium Halls in all 40 constituencies of BTC at Rs 1 crore each in memory of the first martyr of the Bodoland movement, Sujit Narzary.

In his public address a couple of weeks ago, he announced the construction of Youth Centres in every district and sub-divisional headquarters in the name of the first martyr of NDFB, B. Bangbur Gwra. He also formally announced the establishment of two Sports Academy, one each in Mushaalpur in Baksa and at Dotma in the Kokrajhar district in the name of great footballer Binod (Dabla) Brahma, establishment of two Bodoland Rural Industrial Centres (BRICs) in BTR on a fast-track mode, People’s Constituency Development (PCD) and the Lakhpati Mahila Plan (LMP), establishment of five Gender Resource Centres (GRC) one each in BTR districts to be managed and run by the Women Cluster Level Federations (CLFs).

Recently, the CEM launched the mission ‘Bwiswmuthi’, a web portal to deliver online land-related services to citizens, ‘Aai Onsai Bithanki’, a programme to support the women identified with high-risk of pregnancy under the Rog Nirmul BTR mission, the CEM Dashboard Portal with focus on Government Expenditure Tracking for FY 2023-24, Farmers’ Database Portal of BTR and Bodoland Cancer Care Trust (BCCT) to support cancer patients and their families in BTR. Besides, Bodoland Sports Excellence award of Rs. 1 lakh each to 100 sportspersons and ‘Energy for Health’ program to support solarization of over 500 health centres across BTR as part of the MoU signed with the SELCO Foundation and partnership with the World Resources Institute (WRI) of Washington DC, USA were also announced by Boro.

In a review meeting held on Tuesday at Bodofa Cultural Complex, Boro reviewed the status of various BTC flagship programmes. Meanwhile, the Joint Secretary of the BTC, Rintu Chandra Boro disclosed that so far, the government of BTR has received Rs 12 crore from Agastya Foundation, Rs 14 crore from SELCO Foundation, Rs 7 crore from the Hans Foundation, Rs 24 lakh from UNICEF, Rs 8 crore from BRLF, Rs 15 lakh from CINI with total Rs 41.39 crore as per the MoU signed with the Development Partners.
