KOKRAJHAR: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Pramod Boro on Friday laid stress on the necessity of setting up processing units of agriculture products in the region.
A video conferencing from New Delhi on livelihood and Employment Opportunity of Tribal by Probhir Krishna, former Managing Director, Tribal Co-Operative Marketing Development Federation of India limited (TRIFED), with BTC chief Pramod Boro, Principal Secretary, BTC, Anurag Goel and all Secretaries of BTC, was held in the video conference room of BTC Secretariat on Friday.
The meeting discussed regarding the proposal for expansion of livelihood activities in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Discussion was also held on VAN DHAN YOYONA and the MSP for MFP (present scenario) activities like on honey, hill grass, black rice, jackfruit, king chilly, weaver artisan, handloom & textile agriculture, sericulture, and tribal handicrafts etc.
Maximum stress was given on agriculture processing, food processing park, horticulture and lemon processing, whose projects will be implemented in a cluster manner in BTR. For these schemes/projects, a total of 250 clusters are allocated for Assam, including BTR, which will be funded by the Government of India.
