KOKRAJHAR: As per order of the Assam State Election Commission (ASEC), Nandita Dutta, secretary to the Government of Assam, Excise, Mines and Minerals, and Bankim Sarma, Conservator, Forest (Wildlife), on Friday evening reached Chirang Sadar Division for monitoring the election process in 13-Chirang (ST), 14-Chirang Duars (ST) and 15-Kajalgaon (ST) Bodoland Territorial Council Constituencies (BTCC) as General Observer and Expenditure Observer of these three constituencies.
Upon their arrival in Kajalgaon Sadar Subdivision, General Observer Nandita Dutta and Bankim Sarm held a meeting with the Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officers, police officials and later with all election cell in-charges on Friday and issued directions on various aspects.
During the meeting, both General Observer and Expenditure Observer took stock of the poll preparations in the constituencies and directed that the Model Code of Conduct should be enforced in its true spirit so that the elections were carried out in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful atmosphere.
They expressed satisfaction over the poll preparations in the district and directed the police officials to ensure safety and security of the public during the election process.
In the meeting, Returning Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Gautam Talukdar briefed the observers about the ongoing poll preparations. The General Observer also visited some polling stations to access the conditions and facilities available out there for the voters.
